Why does a Tunisian business still need a website in 2026?

It's a legitimate question, regularly asked by Tunisian business owners: if most of my customers find me on Facebook or Instagram, why invest in a website?
A distribution channel, not an asset you own
A Facebook page, an Instagram account: these are spaces you rent, not own. The platform changes its algorithm, your organic reach drops overnight.
A website, on the other hand, is a digital asset: you own the content, the domain name, the hosting.
What Google sees, and social media doesn't always show
A Google search remains, for many B2B or professional-service purchase decisions, the verification step before contact.
Complementary, not opposed
The right question isn't "social media or website" but "what role for each". Social media builds conversation and regular traffic. The website is the anchor point where credibility is built and conversion happens.
